New Brazil Office for International Consultancy DB

The international consultancy arm of Deutsche Bahn (DB) is setting up a new national company in Brazil to handle the massive infrastructure projects currently in preparation for the 2014 FIFA World Cup followed by the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

54 Billion Euro Infrastructure Program in Brazil

The new company will be known as DB International Brasil and will be based in Rio De Janeiro. The company has already won contracts in Brazil and hopes to secure further contracts making up part of the 54 billion euro infrastructure program announced last month by Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff. As part of the program, 10,000 km of rail and 7,000 km of road will be laid and built for sporting events.

As part of an awarded contract, DB International is currently analysing the efficiency of the Port of Santos in the state of São Paulo in 2011 and it beat 37 national and international bidders to win the contract to create a rail and logistics master plan for the SuperVía (urban transit) and MetroRio (subway) local transportation companies in Rio.

Chairman of the board of managing directors of DB International, Niko Warbanoff said of the new office location in Brazil, “we will continue to build on our excellent contacts and expand our strategic position in the Brazilian market through our new national company.”
